Big Sur Coast · Wednesday, June 3

We’re the neighbors who look after Garrapata.

A loose, friendly crew at the north end of Big Sur — pulling cape ivy, fixing trail, and keeping an eye on the headlands, the redwoods, and the calla lily valley. Since 2009.

Come lend a hand

We're a volunteer crew that gets out to Garrapata most months for a few hours of trail work, weed-pulling, and cleanup. Dates go up on our Facebook page first — come say hello.

Years of photos, now in one place

We've started gathering years of work-day photos and coastline shots into a gallery. Take a look — and if you've got pictures to add, send them our way.

Meet the crew

Nobody here has a title. We’re just folks who love this place and keep showing up for it.

Augie

co-founder, here since 2009

Started Friends of Garrapata with David because the park, in his words, is “my church, my temple, my mosque.” You’ll find him swapping out rotted planks on the Rocky Ridge Trail with lumber he cut at home.
