Est. [NONPROFIT_FOUNDED_YEAR] · Monterey County, California

Where the coast breathes back to you.

Two miles of headland, one quiet canyon of redwoods, and a community of volunteers keeping it that way. Friends of Garrapata stewards Garrapata State Park in partnership with California State Parks.

No. 02

Three landscapes,
one ongoing argument
for keeping them.

01

The coastline.

Two miles of bluff, tidepool, and pocket cove between Carmel and Big Sur. Sea otters and harbor seals work the kelp beds; gray whales pass close enough to hear them breathe.

Soberanes Point · Calla Lily Valley · Garrapata Beach

02

The canyon.

Inland from the cliffs, Soberanes Canyon climbs through chaparral into a corridor of redwoods kept cool by a small stream and a great deal of fog. The kind of quiet that recalibrates a person.

03

The community.

Trail crews, native-plant volunteers, photographers, and longtime neighbors. The park keeps itself standing because a lot of people show up, repeatedly, with gloves on.

Two ways
to keep this place.

A. Give

Fund the work
of staying here.

Donations underwrite trail stewardship, native-habitat restoration, and the educational programming that brings new people to the park as collaborators, not visitors.

B. Show up

No. 06 — A standing invitation

Come stand on the
rocks. Then help us
keep them.

Garrapata stays a place worth visiting because a community keeps it that way. Whether you’re here for a single walk or a decade of stewardship, you’re welcome.
